The lead developers of the upcoming life simulation game responded to fan inquiries. Surprisingly, when questioned about intimate relationships, the assistant director provided such an ambiguous reply (avoiding direct terminology) that players were left thoroughly confused. Essentially, the response suggested these interactions occur, implying that when male and female ZOIs retire to bed together, their intent to procreate is evident—though the visual representation depends largely on player interpretation. > "Perhaps it unfolds that way, but perhaps not quite as explicitly as some might expect." As things stand, it remains unclear whether inZOI will handle intimacy with the same censorship approach seen in The Sims franchise or forge its own path. The developers also addressed why ZOIs wear towels during showers instead of using pixelation. First, they explained that pixelation suits more cartoonish art styles better, whereas realistic graphics risk making such censoring appear unintentionally provocative. Second, they revealed a technical glitch: when a pixel-censored nude ZOI approached a mirror, the blur effect wouldn’t appear in the reflection. Many questions find answers by examining the game's assigned ratings from regulatory boards: ESRB rated it T (Teen), while PEGI 12 is anticipated—mirroring the ratings The Sims 4 received.
