Best iPhone Game Updates: ‘Peglin’, ‘Brawl Stars’, ‘Genshin Impact’, ‘Royal Match’, and More
Hello everyone, and welcome to another exciting week! It's time to dive into the notable updates from the past seven days. This week, Shaun couldn't resist including more than one free-to-play matching puzzle game update, but don't worry, we've got some fantastic updates to share as well. And, of course, you can enjoy watching Shaun take on King Robert, a spectacle we all love. Remember, you can stay updated by joining the discussions on the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is here to catch you up on what you might have missed. Let's get started!
Peglin, Free
I'm thrilled to kick off this week's list with Peglin, which earns the coveted UMMSotW award. The 1.0 update introduces the ability to challenge up to level 20 in Cruciball, a new Slime Hive mini-boss, and a plethora of tweaks, bug fixes, balance adjustments, and other enhancements. While Peglin didn't necessarily need an update, I'm more than happy to see these improvements.
Brawl Stars, Free
It's Brawl Stars time! Get ready for an exciting new event featuring SpongeBob. Additionally, two new Brawlers, Moe (Mythic) and Kenji (Legendary), are joining the fray, along with new Hypercharges for various characters. These updates will roll out over the next few months, but the SpongeBob event should be starting soon, if it hasn't already by the time you read this.
stitch.,
What more could you ask for from an update to the soothing and satisfying stitch than more Hoops to play? This update brings a martial arts-themed set of puzzles. While the theme might not be the main attraction, the addition of new puzzles is always welcome. Update your app and enjoy some Hoops to feel better.
Genshin Impact, Free
With the Genshin Impact: Natlan Launch, the game introduces a new region, Natlan, along with three new characters: Mualani, Kinich, and Kachina. New weapons, events, stories, and artifacts are also part of this update. While it's a bit larger than usual, it aligns well with the expectations set by previous updates.
Temple Run: Puzzle Adventure,
This update for the Apple Arcade title brings 100 new levels to the Temple Run spin-off, along with refreshed tournaments. It's a substantial update that should keep players engaged for a while, though I'm not sure it will last until the next update given how quickly players can go through levels.
Jetpack Joyride 2,
In this special update for the Apple Arcade sequel to Halfbrick's mega-hit auto-runner, Barry Steakfries escapes to the one place untouched by capitalism – SPACE! While I'd love to leave it at that for a dramatic effect, I'll keep things tidy. A shoutout to Tim Curry, whose performances have always been a delight. Much love to him, and I'm pretty sure he's reading this.
Puyo Puyo Puzzle Pop,
Another matching puzzle game update, but this one is a classic. The update adds new character episodes for Sig, Carbuncle, and Rafisol in Adventure Mode, introduces Meena as a playable character, and includes seven new music tracks in the shop. Bug fixes round out the update.
Hearthstone, Free
It's time for Hearthstone! The update notes are usually detailed, so let's dive in. Battlegrounds Season 8, Trinkets & Travels, is on its way. The Trinket Shop replaces Buddies, allowing you to buy Trinkets twice per game with Gold, which can impact the rest of the match. Balancing might be tricky, but that's where Hearthstone stands now.
Toon Blast, Free
The first of our obligatory free-to-play matching puzzle game updates is Toon Blast. A new episode adds 50 levels, featuring a theme involving bees and happiness. Bees are fascinating creatures that support our ecosystem, and while I'm a bit scared of them, I appreciate their role. Keep going, my little bug friends.
Royal Match, Free
I'm torn between wanting King Robert to disappear forever or to keep coming back for more comedic demise. This update adds 100 new levels and a new jousting arena, which sounds promising. I can't help but laugh at the ad where King Robert replaces the freezing pregnant lady and her child. Perhaps he should burn his velvet robes to stay warm, you extravagant old ogre.
That wraps up the significant updates from last week. I'm sure I've missed some, so feel free to comment below if you think something should be mentioned. As always, major updates will get their own news stories throughout the week, and I'll be back next Monday to summarize and fill in the blanks. Have a great week!
