KartRider: Drift Shuts Down Worldwide
Nexon has announced the global closure of KartRider: Drift, the mobile, console, and PC title launched in January 2023. The game will be discontinued worldwide later this year across all platforms.
However, the Asian servers (Taiwan and South Korea) will remain operational. While Nexon plans significant updates for the Asian version, details regarding these changes and the possibility of a future global relaunch remain undisclosed. The exact date of the global shutdown is also currently unannounced, although the game is still available on the Google Play Store.
The decision to shut down the global version stems from ongoing challenges. Despite efforts to provide a smooth player experience, issues such as excessive automation leading to repetitive gameplay, subpar optimization on certain Android devices, and numerous bugs negatively impacted the game's performance and reception. Nexon is now refocusing its efforts on the Korean and Taiwanese PC versions, aiming to revitalize the game's original concept.
