In a recent Steam announcement, Larian Studios revealed plans for the Patch 8 stress test build, set to launch in January. Accessible via Steam on PC and Xbox and PlayStation for consoles, players on Mac and GOG platforms will unfortunately not be able to participate. Currently, the interest registration form is live and open for participants.

Prior to the release of Patch 8, Larian emphasized their commitment to thorough testing to ensure stability and address any gameplay issues. They encouraged community involvement to monitor for anomalies, particularly focusing on crossplay functionality. As Larian noted, integrating crossplay into a game as extensive as Baldur's Gate 3 presents significant challenges, and they seek player assistance to fine-tune this feature.

Participants are invited to share the stress test registration link to gather friends for crossplay campaigns or join the Larian Studios Discord Server to find groups.

Despite being the final major update, Patch 8 marks the beginning of continued support for the game's modding community. Larian promised additional updates, including tools to empower players to create their own narratives. Since the official mod tools launched in September, over 70 million modules have been downloaded and over 3,000 mods uploaded by enthusiastic gamers.
