League of Legends Reverses Course on Unpopular Changes Based on Player Feedback

League of Legends Hextech Chest Brought Back After Fan Feedback

Responding to significant player feedback, Riot Games is reinstating Hextech Chests in League of Legends. A developer update, released February 27, 2025, and accompanied by a YouTube video, detailed the upcoming changes. Riot acknowledged previous updates missed the mark, stating a commitment to addressing player concerns.

The return of Hextech Chests is a direct response to player requests. Riot admitted they underestimated the importance of these chests to the overall player experience. Beginning with patch 25.05, players can earn up to ten chests and keys per act – eight from the free pass and two via the Honor system.

Exalted Mordekaiser Delayed, Further Adjustments Planned

The release of the Exalted Mordekaiser skin, along with the entire Exalted skin line, has been postponed. Riot aims to refine the skin to better meet player expectations. Consequently, the planned release of an Exalted skin each act this year has been revised.

Further adjustments include replacing a non-Prestige skin reward with 25 Mythic Essence, addressing player feedback regarding Mythic Essence scarcity in the paid pass. In response to community discussions about champion acquisition, the Blue Essence cost for all champions will be reduced by 50%, effective with patch 25.05.

The frequency of Clash events is also being increased, returning to a monthly schedule. March will feature an ARURF Clash, followed by a standard SR Clash in April.
