Lies of P DLC Hinted, Sequel Also Planned
Lies of P's Ji-Won Choi recently penned a heartfelt message that serves as both a love letter to the community and a teaser for the future of the steampunk Pinocchio-inspired Soulslike game.
Lies of P DLC Concept Art and Soundtrack Teased in Director’s Letter
P’s Puppets Get More Strings to Pull
One year ago, Lies of P made a dramatic entrance, offering players a Pinocchio-inspired Soulslike experience set in the blood-soaked streets of Krat. To commemorate the game's first anniversary, developer NEOWIZ shared an emotional letter from director Ji-Won Choi, along with tantalizing hints about the upcoming DLC.
In his letter, Choi expressed deep gratitude to the fans who have supported Lies of P over the past year. He described the team's dedication, working through Korea’s hottest summer to deliver the DLC, driven by the fans' love. Choi promised that the DLC would enhance the successful elements of the base game while addressing some of the areas that needed improvement.
"For the DLC of Lies of P and the sequel, we aim to do better on what we did well and improve in areas where we have room to grow," Choi wrote. "It might sound simple, but I find that sticking to the basics is anything but easy." He also extended thanks to his colleagues at Team NOUGH and ROUND8 Studio.
The highlight of Choi’s letter was the tease at the end. He shared a new song and concept art from the DLC, prompting fans to imagine the new story that will unfold. The concept art depicts P standing in a snowy outpost, gazing at a lighthouse, hinting at new dangers and adventures ahead.
Choi also treated fans to a new track from the DLC’s soundtrack. Although labeled as "new," the song "Lisrim" was composed by "onoken" in 2022, but with a slower tempo. There are no copyright concerns, as NEOWIZ owns both tracks. The accompanying music video features a character with a clockwork weapon, echoing the game's thematic elements as they navigate Victorian rooftops to rescue an imprisoned girl.
When Will Lies of P’s DLC Release?
While an exact release date for the DLC remains undisclosed, NEOWIZ’s Q1 2024 Earnings Results indicate that it is expected to launch in the second half of 2024. This period will also see the release of four other games from NEOWIZ:
- The Legend of Heroes: Gagharv Trilogy
- Cats & Soup: Malang Town
- Cats & Soup: Magic Recipe
- Project IG
NEOWIZ has been keeping fans engaged, with Choi releasing an eight-minute video on YouTube last November, showcasing early concept art for the DLC. This included glimpses of a towering industrial facility and a perilous shipwreck.
As fans eagerly await more detailed updates, Choi assured them that their anticipation will soon turn into delight. For those who have completed the main game and are eager for more, patience is key. The DLC is just the beginning, with a full-fledged sequel also in the works.
