MageTrain: Dynamic Pixel Roguelike Hits Android
Tidepool Games has launched an electrifying pixel-art roguelike, MageTrain, now available on Android. Fans of Nimble Quest will find its gameplay strikingly familiar, as MageTrain builds heavily on its predecessor’s mechanics.
What Defines MageTrain?
MageTrain blends the classic Snake formula with auto-battler and roguelike elements. You guide a chain of heroes trailing behind you, much like a snake, with each hero automatically attacking as you navigate an arena.
Your role is to strategically position heroes, avoiding collisions with enemies or obstacles. You decide who leads the charge and who supports from the rear, as their abilities shift based on their place in the line.
At launch, MageTrain features nine unique heroes, including one that hurls birds. Each hero’s skills vary depending on their position in the formation.
Explore eight distinct dungeons, battle 28 enemy types, and unlock 30 skills to strengthen your team. Collect gold and power-ups to enhance your runs.
Thanks to its roguelike design, every run offers a fresh experience with branching paths and upgrade choices, challenging you to survive as long as possible.
Similar to Slay the Spire or FTL, there are no fixed levels or save points. A single misstep—crashing into an obstacle or being overrun by foes—means starting anew.
Check out a preview of MageTrain below.
Fast-Paced and Engaging
The thrill of MageTrain lies in constant growth, even after defeat. Each run sharpens your instincts, teaching you when to play defensively, strike aggressively, or simply hold on for another moment.
MageTrain is free to play on Android via the Google Play Store, ready for you to dive in.
