"Mario Kart World's Cow Enjoys Burgers, Steak"
In the midst of all the recent news about tariffs and Nintendo Switch 2 pricing, it's refreshing to dive into something a bit more lighthearted. IGN had the chance to explore Mario Kart World at a Nintendo event in New York this week, and they've confirmed an intriguing detail: the new Moo Moo Meadows Cow character can indeed indulge in a variety of foods, including burgers and steak.
For those unfamiliar with the buzz, Mario Kart World recently introduced the Moo Moo Meadows Cow as a playable racer, sparking a wave of excitement and creativity across the internet. Fans have been busy creating memes and fanart, celebrating the transition of this once-background character into a spotlight role.
However, a peculiar detail from the Nintendo Direct 2 trailer caught fans' attention. In the trailer, Mario is seen eating a burger, raising questions about whether Cow, whose species might be linked to beef production, would also consume beef. The curiosity was palpable: would Cow partake in her own kind?
At the Nintendo event, IGN discovered that food items featured in the trailer are available at Yoshi's diner locations throughout the game's courses. These diners operate much like drive-thrus, where racers can quickly grab a bag of take-out, similar to picking up items from an item box. The menu boasts an array of options, including burgers, steak kebabs, pizza, and donuts.
And yes, Cow can enjoy them all. IGN shared footage on Twitter, confirming that Cow indeed can eat steak in Mario Kart World.
During the event, IGN observed Cow consuming various items, including burgers, but noticed no visible effects on Cow, unlike other racers who change costumes upon eating. This raises questions about the purpose of these food items for Cow. Is she simply enjoying the taste? Or could there be a hidden power-up linked to her consumption that Nintendo has yet to unveil? Perhaps these are plant-based alternatives like veggie burgers and Beyond meat kebabs?
IGN reached out to Nintendo for clarification but hasn't received a response yet. It's likely due to the busy schedule at their New York event, rather than the absurdity of the question posed to their PR team.
