Marvel Contest of Champions: A Deep Dive into Champion Cards
Marvel Contest of Champions extends beyond the mobile realm; it boasts an arcade version at Dave & Buster's, offering a unique competitive experience. This arcade cabinet allows two-player 3v3 battles, with the victor decided by a best-of-three series. However, the true draw is the post-match reward: a Champion Card, a physical collectible featuring a Marvel hero or villain.

These cards aren't just for show; they're scannable in-game, letting players choose specific champions before a match. With two series released, over 175 cards—including standard and foil variants—are in circulation. Whether you're a completionist or a strategic player, this guide covers everything you need to know about MCoC Champion Cards.
Understanding Champion Cards
Champion Cards are physical trading cards dispensed by Marvel Contest of Champions arcade machines at Dave & Buster's. They represent in-game characters and are used to select champions during arcade gameplay. If you don't scan a card, the machine randomly selects champions.
Each card showcases a specific MCoC Marvel character and has a foil variant, mirroring other collectible arcade cards (e.g., Mario Kart Arcade GP, Injustice Arcade). Series 1 introduced 75 champions, while Series 2 added another 100, including some redesigns of Series 1 characters.

Following each match, both players receive a Champion Card, regardless of the win/loss outcome. The card is randomly assigned, meaning every player has an equal chance of obtaining any specific champion. Cards are drawn from the two existing series (75 unique champions in Series 1, 100 in Series 2), each with a rarer foil variant.
While not mandatory for arcade gameplay, Champion Cards add a strategic layer and personalization. Instead of random assignments, players can strategically select their champions using their cards. Note that these cards don't transfer to the mobile MCoC game, but they enhance the arcade experience with a collectible dimension. For mobile MCoC tips, check out our beginner's guide!
Champion Card Rarity and Collectibility
MCoC Champion Cards share the appeal of traditional trading cards. Functionally identical in-game, they offer a collecting challenge, especially the rarer foil versions. Series 2 introduced new designs alongside redesigns of Series 1 characters, resulting in multiple versions of some champions.
Available Cards:
- Series 1 (2019): 75 cards featuring classic MCoC characters.
- Series 2 (Later Release): 100 cards, including redesigns and new additions.
- Foil Variants: Rarer, more valuable versions of standard cards.
Collectors may aim for complete sets, specific Marvel characters, or solely foil cards. Their Dave & Buster's exclusivity adds to their appeal for Marvel enthusiasts.
