NetEase Games, the developer behind Marvel Rivals, has responded swiftly to the community's concerns just days after fans initiated a widespread Support strike. The focus of this action is to alleviate the pressures felt by players of the Strategist class, which primarily serves as the game's Support pool.

Season 2 of Marvel Rivals has been largely successful, introducing new characters, maps, and modes, alongside promises of quicker seasons and an expanding roster of playable heroes. However, the balance adjustments have shifted the power dynamics, leaving Strategists at a disadvantage compared to Vanguards and Duelists. This shift has sparked frustration among the Strategist community, who have faced not only tough matches but also toxicity from teammates in chat blaming them for losses.

The discontent reached a peak when hundreds of players took to social media, vowing to avoid the healer role until NetEase addressed their concerns. A Reddit user expressed the sentiment of many, saying, "We’re not asking to be glorified or seen as the ‘hardest’ role - because I don’t think we are. We just want basic respect. It’s tiring to be called brain dead or worthless when your stats are solid and you’re playing your role the way it’s meant to be played."

In response, NetEase has outlined a plan to address these issues. In a Dev Talk post on their website, they detailed a two-pronged approach: enhancing the Support role and making the Competitive mode more rewarding for Strategists. The upcoming patch will see an increase in "threat levels" for Strategists, potentially buffing heroes like Invisible Woman or Jeff the Land Shark, while nerfing the survivability of Vanguards such as Captain America and Groot. Additionally, Spider-Man's Amazing Combo ability will face a reduction in damage range.

NetEase emphasized a cautious approach to these mid-season balance adjustments, aiming to enhance the experience without drastically altering the meta. They also hinted at broader changes in Season 2.5 with the arrival of Ultron and new Team-Up Ability adjustments.

In the Competitive mode of Marvel Rivals, Duelists have enjoyed a performance advantage since Season 2 began, while Vanguards and Strategists have lagged. NetEase plans to recalibrate the performance rating calculations to ensure a fairer playing field across all heroes. They acknowledge the challenges in balancing the game and promise to remain attentive to player feedback, striving to address issues quickly.
