Marvel Rivals' character popularity reveals interesting trends across game modes. Official website data shows Jeff as the most popular character in "quick play," followed by Venom and Cloak & Dagger. However, competitive play paints a different picture. On PC, Luna Snow, Cloak & Dagger, and Mantis lead the popularity charts, while on consoles, Cloak & Dagger, Penny Parker, and Mantis take the top spots.
Surprisingly, despite her popularity, Mantis also holds the unfortunate title of most defeated hero in competitive mode, leading on both PC and consoles, surpassing Hela, Loki, and Magic. Consoles saw a broader distribution of success, with 14 additional characters boasting win rates over 50%.
Conversely, unpopular characters include Storm, Black Widow, and Wolverine in "quick play," while Nemore takes the bottom spot in competitive modes.
The game's recent surge in popularity, with over 500 mods submitted in a single month, has also sparked controversy. Nexus Mods' removal of modifications replacing Captain America's head with Donald Trump and Joe Biden images ignited a heated debate among players.
Nexus Mods owner, TheDarkOne, clarified the decision in a private Reddit discussion, stating that both "moderators"—the Trump and Biden head swaps—were removed simultaneously to avoid accusations of bias. This action, however, has curiously been met with silence from YouTube gaming commentators.
