Stun the Monster
Ebony Odogaron's speed is its most daunting feature, often leaving players scrambling to keep up. To counter this, stunning the monster is crucial. You can find a Flashfly in the vicinity to trigger and stun Ebony Odogaron. Alternatively, crafting Flash Pods to shoot at the monster can also immobilize it, giving you a much-needed breather during the fight.
Bring Teammates
Facing Ebony Odogaron solo can be overwhelming due to its relentless attacks. To mitigate this, consider bringing teammates into the fray. Use SOS signals to call for backup; if no players respond, NPCs can serve as effective shields, drawing the monster's attention away from you. Focus on dodging until the monster shifts its focus to your allies.
Pull Down Entangled Rocks
During the battle, you'll encounter an area with Entangled Rocks overhead. Use your slinger to pull these down, stunning the boss for a few precious seconds. This tactic can only be used once per fight, but you can also deploy Pitfall and Shock Traps to immobilize the creature twice more.
Beware of Dragonblight
Ebony Odogaron can inflict Dragonblight, which, while not directly harmful, will hinder your ability to deal elemental or status effect damage. To counteract this, use a Nulberry or equip a decoration with Level 3 Dragon Resistance or Blight Resistance to mitigate its effects.
Inflict Paralysis
Inflicting Paralysis on Ebony Odogaron is highly recommended. This status effect will immobilize the monster temporarily, making it easier to attack. If you can knock it down while it's over roots, it might get further entangled, giving you more time to deal damage.
Aim for the Head
The head is Ebony Odogaron's most vulnerable spot, with a 3-star weakness. Targeting it will maximize your damage output, though it also puts you at greater risk. If you prefer a safer approach, aim for its forelegs and tail, which, while less damaging, can still lead to breaking its limbs.

How to Capture Ebony Odogaron in Monster Hunter Wilds
Capturing Ebony Odogaron requires strategic use of Pitfall or Shock Traps. First, reduce the monster's health to 20 percent or less. Only then will the tranquilizer effectively subdue it. If you attempt to capture it too early, the monster will break free, forcing you to continue the fight.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
