Mattel Updates Mobile Games for Colorblind Accessibility
Mattel163 is enhancing its popular card games to promote inclusivity with a game-changing update: Beyond Colors. This feature makes UNO! Mobile, Phase 10: World Tour, and Skip-Bo Mobile more accessible for colorblind players.
What is Beyond Colors?
Beyond Colors addresses the challenges faced by approximately 300 million colorblind individuals worldwide. Instead of relying solely on color, the update uses distinct shapes (squares, triangles, etc.) to represent card values, ensuring clear differentiation for all players.
How to Activate Beyond Colors:
Enabling Beyond Colors is simple:
- Tap your in-game avatar.
- Go to your account settings.
- Select the Beyond Colors deck under card theme options.
Collaboration and Accessibility:
Mattel163 collaborated with colorblind gamers to ensure the new symbols are effective and user-friendly. This initiative reflects Mattel's broader commitment to accessibility, with a goal of making 80% of their games colorblind-accessible by 2025. The development involved experts in color vision deficiency and the global gaming community, exploring solutions beyond color, such as patterns and symbols.
Consistent Design:
The shapes used in Beyond Colors are consistent across all three games (UNO! Mobile, Phase 10: World Tour, and Skip-Bo Mobile). Mastering the symbols in one game means you'll easily understand them in the others. Download these games now from the Google Play Store!
