Minecraft Live 2025 Unveils Vibrant Visuals, Flying Ghast
Minecraft Live 2025 has concluded, and Mojang has unveiled an exciting array of updates and new content for the iconic video game. The first game drop of the year, aptly named "Spring to Life," is set to launch on March 25. This update promises to enhance the Overworld's biomes, making them more immersive and vibrant. Players can look forward to new variants of familiar mobs like cows, pigs, and chickens, along with new ambient features such as glittering firefly bushes, falling leaves, and the soothing whispers of sand. These additions aim to enrich the exploration experience within the game.
The second game drop, while yet to be named, introduces a novel block called the Dried Ghast. This block, slightly smaller than a regular one, features cute tentacles and a grumpy face. When placed in water, the Dried Ghast transforms into a Ghastling, a baby ghast that floats around like a balloon in the Overworld. By feeding it snowballs, players can nurture it into a Happy Ghast. This new mob variant can be harnessed to fly, carrying up to four players, which Mojang suggests will be particularly useful for builders in Survival Mode, offering a taste of Creative Mode freedom.
Mojang also announced a significant visual upgrade titled 'Vibrant Visuals,' which aims to transform the visual experience of Minecraft without altering gameplay. For more details on this upgrade, check out IGN's separate article and their visuals comparison video.
In addition to these updates, Mojang shared an exclusive clip from the upcoming "A Minecraft Movie" and announced a movie-themed in-game live event. Scheduled to start on March 25 and run until April 7, the event takes place in Midport Village, where players will join Steve and his movie companions to defend the village from a piglin attack through three mini-games. Completing all challenges during the event will reward players with the coveted Yearn cape.
During our visit to Mojang's offices in Sweden, we learned more about the developer's stance on various topics. Mojang has no plans to create a Minecraft 2, shift to a free-to-play model, or employ generative AI in game development.
