Monster Hunter Wilds Hits Nearly 1 Million Concurrent Players on Steam, Set to Grow Further
Monster Hunter Wilds has burst onto the scene with an impressive launch, drawing nearly 1 million concurrent players on Steam alone. Capcom's latest action-adventure title is available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, and has swiftly climbed to become the eighth most-played game on Steam ever, boasting a peak of 987,482 concurrent users.
To give you a sense of its scale, this figure surpasses the all-time peaks of blockbuster titles like Elden Ring, Hogwarts Legacy, and Baldur’s Gate 3. It has also eclipsed its predecessor, Monster Hunter World, which reached a peak of 334,684 concurrent players on Steam in 2018. Keep in mind, though, that the total peak concurrent figure for Monster Hunter Wilds will likely be even higher, as player data from Sony and Microsoft platforms is not disclosed.

The excitement doesn't stop there. As Monster Hunter Wilds enters its first weekend on sale, the question on everyone's mind is: how high will the concurrent player count climb? There's a strong chance it will surpass the 1 million mark today, potentially overtaking Cyberpunk 2077. Could it even reach 2 million? The possibilities are tantalizing.
Although Capcom has not yet released official sales numbers, the game's launch performance suggests it's on track to be a massive hit. For reference, Monster Hunter World achieved over 25 million sales in six years, becoming Capcom's best-selling title ever. However, it's worth noting that Monster Hunter Wilds has garnered a 'mixed' user review rating on Steam, primarily due to reported performance issues.
In our IGN review, Monster Hunter Wilds scored an 8/10. We noted, "Monster Hunter Wilds continues to smooth off the rougher corners of the series in smart ways, making for some extremely fun fights but also lacking any real challenge."
