How to Get & Use the Music Box in Phasmophobia
Mastering the Music Box in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Location, Usage, and Hunt Triggers
Phasmophobia challenges players to identify ghost types and escape with their lives. The game's updates have introduced various items, including the Music Box. This guide details how to acquire and effectively utilize the Music Box.
Acquiring the Music Box
The Music Box, like other cursed objects, has a 1/7 chance of appearing on any given map. Its spawn is random; there's no guaranteed method to obtain it. Only one Music Box can spawn per game. Once located, interact with it to pick it up and activate it with another interaction.
Using the Music Box
Several strategies involve the Music Box. Upon activation, it plays a tune. If a ghost is within 20 meters, it will "sing along," revealing its location. Within 5 meters, the ghost will approach the Box. You can place the activated Box on the ground to lure the ghost. The Music Box automatically stops after the song concludes. Note that holding the active Music Box decreases your sanity.
Triggering Hunts with the Music Box
The Music Box can initiate either a cursed or standard hunt, depending on the circumstances:
- Cursed Hunt Triggers:
- Throwing the active Music Box (not placing it down).
- Reaching 0% sanity while holding the active Music Box.
- The ghost approaching the Music Box for over five seconds.
- The ghost's proximity to the player holding the active Music Box.
For optimal use, carry additional tools like Smudge Sticks to increase your survival chances during a hunt. This allows you to identify the ghost type or complete other objectives.
