T.S. Nowlin, renowned for his work on the Maze Runner series and Netflix's Project Adam, has joined the project to write the screenplay. While Derek Kolstad's involvement remains uncertain, he was previously attached to the adaptation.

Adding considerable weight to the production, Chad Stahelski, director of the John Wick franchise, and his production company, 87Eleven Entertainment, will serve as executive producers. Stahelski is also currently working on the Ghost of Tsushima film adaptation.

Sifu, released in 2022, achieved remarkable success, selling over one million copies in its first three weeks. The game centers on a young kung fu student's quest for revenge after their master's assassination. Utilizing a mystical pendant that allows resurrection but at the cost of accelerated aging, the protagonist navigates a treacherous path filled with peril and mystery.
