Nintendo Alarm Clock Unveiled Ahead of GTA 6 Anticipation
Nintendo's Surprise: An Interactive Alarm Clock and a Mysterious Switch Online Playtest
Who saw this coming? Nintendo has launched a new interactive alarm clock, the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, alongside a secretive Switch Online playtest. Let's dive into the details.
The Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo – Wake Up in a Game World!
Free Game-Themed Alarms on the Way!
Priced at $99, the Alarmo uses game sounds to coax you out of bed. Nintendo promises a truly immersive wake-up experience, transporting you to your favorite game worlds with sounds inspired by titles like Mario, Zelda, and Splatoon. Best of all, more free alarm sounds are on the horizon. The alarm's clever design requires you to actually leave your bed to silence it – a "brief victory fanfare" for conquering the morning, as Nintendo puts it. Setup is straightforward: choose a game, select a scene, set your alarm, and let the interactive fun begin. While you can wave your hand to temporarily quiet the alarm, persistent slumber only increases its intensity.
Utilizing a unique radio wave sensor, the Alarmo measures your distance and movement speed without compromising privacy. Unlike camera-based solutions, it doesn't record video, and its radio wave technology allows for detection even in dark rooms or with obstacles present, as explained by Nintendo developer Tetsuya Akama.
Early Access for Switch Online Members!
For a limited time, Nintendo Switch Online members in the US and Canada can purchase the Alarmo through the My Nintendo Store before its wider release. Additionally, the Nintendo New York store offers in-person purchases while supplies last.
