CES 2025: Genki's Switch 2 Replica Hints at Console's Design and Accessory Plans

A physical replica of the Nintendo Switch 2, reportedly matching the final hardware's dimensions, was showcased by accessory maker Genki at CES 2025. This offers a significant glimpse into the console's potential design, fueling speculation surrounding Nintendo's upcoming release.

Images surfacing from the event suggest a larger console than its predecessor, with a screen size comparable to the Lenovo Legion Go. The Joy-Cons appear to detach via a sideways pull, hinting at a magnetic attachment system, though a possible mechanical lock is also suggested to prevent accidental detachment. Interestingly, the right Joy-Con features an extra, unlabeled button.

Genki's presentation of this replica wasn't intended as a premature reveal, but rather a tool to showcase their upcoming range of Switch 2 accessories. The company plans to release eight accessories in total, encompassing cases, controller peripherals, and a dock. No release date information for the Switch 2 itself was disclosed.

The increasing concreteness of leaks and rumors surrounding the Switch 2 suggests an official announcement from Nintendo may be imminent. Anticipation is high among fans, developers, and publishers alike, given the current Switch's age.
