Nintendo Delays Japanese Alarmo Release Despite Global Availability

Nintendo Alarmo Japanese Release Postponed Despite Being Available Worldwide

Nintendo has announced a delay in the general retail release of its Alarmo alarm clock in Japan due to unexpectedly high demand exceeding current supply. The launch, initially planned for February 2025, is now postponed indefinitely.

The company cites production and inventory challenges as the reason for the delay. While there's currently no indication of similar delays in other regions (with a general release planned for March 2025), Nintendo Japan will instead offer a pre-order system exclusively to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in Japan. This pre-order period is slated to begin in mid-December, with shipments expected in early February 2025. The precise pre-order start date will be announced separately.

The Alarmo, a gaming-themed alarm clock featuring iconic melodies from franchises like Super Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Splatoon, and RingFit Adventure (with more to be added via updates), launched globally in October. Its immediate popularity overwhelmed Nintendo, leading to the halting of online orders and a lottery system for remaining stock. The alarm clock quickly sold out in physical Nintendo stores in Japan and even New York.

Further updates on pre-orders and the rescheduled general release date will be shared as they become available.
