Noir Detective 'MOUSE: P.I. For Hire' Arrives Microtransaction-Free
Fumi Games and PlaySide Studio unveil new details for their upcoming title, MOUSE: P.I. For Hire. This first-person shooter, boasting a striking visual style reminiscent of 1930s cartoons, places players in the shoes of private investigator Jack Pepper.
The game plunges players into a vibrant, jazz-infused world brimming with noir intrigue and explosive action. A key announcement, made via the game's official X account, confirms the absence of microtransactions: "MOUSE: P.I. For Hire will NOT contain microtransactions. We are creating a stunning single player shooter full of noir atmosphere and explosive combat scenes that we put our hearts into creating." This commitment to a traditional, purchase-once model is a notable departure from industry trends, particularly within the indie single-player shooter space.
The game's distinctive aesthetic, inspired by the rubber hose animation style popular in 1930s cartoons, creates a unique and nostalgic atmosphere. Players will navigate a city steeped in noir, encountering mobs, gangs, and corrupt officials. A diverse arsenal of weapons, power-ups, and explosives will aid Jack Pepper in his quest for justice. The developers promise a humorous twist on classic FPS gameplay, featuring whimsical weaponry, a distinctive health display, and cartoonishly rendered enemies.
While a precise release date remains unannounced, MOUSE: P.I. For Hire is slated for a 2025 launch.
