"Onimusha: Way of the Sword Unveils New Trailer with Fresh Gameplay and Protagonist"
Capcom has unveiled exciting new gameplay footage of its highly anticipated action game, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, set to release in 2026. The spotlight of this upcoming title is none other than the legendary swordsman Miyamoto Musashi, bringing his historic prowess to the forefront of this thrilling adventure.
During the PlayStation State of Play, Capcom showcased a captivating trailer that offered fans a fresh look at the sword-based action gameplay and the formidable enemies players will face. The game promises to deliver engaging combat and a visually stunning experience, despite its release being slated for 2026.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword will feature Miyamoto Musashi not only as a master of the blade but also as a character with a roguish and comedic personality. Capcom's press release describes the game as a dark fantasy action title, emphasizing Musashi's role as one of Japan's most celebrated historical figures. Notably, Musashi's facial features in the game are inspired by the iconic Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune, who famously portrayed Musashi in samurai films.
Set in a Kyoto overrun by an evil force called Malic, which is summoning the denizens of Hell into Japan, Onimusha: Way of the Sword marks the first new installment in the Onimusha series in two decades. To build excitement for the upcoming game, Capcom also announced the release of a remastered version of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, set to launch on May 23, 2025.
