Onimusha: Way of the Sword will feature Miyamoto Musashi not only as a master of the blade but also as a character with a roguish and comedic personality. Capcom's press release describes the game as a dark fantasy action title, emphasizing Musashi's role as one of Japan's most celebrated historical figures. Notably, Musashi's facial features in the game are inspired by the iconic Japanese actor Toshiro Mifune, who famously portrayed Musashi in samurai films.

Set in a Kyoto overrun by an evil force called Malic, which is summoning the denizens of Hell into Japan, Onimusha: Way of the Sword marks the first new installment in the Onimusha series in two decades.
