Path of Exile 2: Mastering the Sisters
Quick Links
Path of Exile 2's endgame is notoriously challenging. To ease the transition, developers have cleverly hidden powerful permanent buffs within the main campaign. These hidden encounters offer significant advantages, including passive skill points and weapon set skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a crucial +10% Lightning Resistance buff—twice! However, its subtle nature makes it easy to miss. Let's explore how to find and activate this beneficial encounter.
Where To Find Sisters of Garukhan
The Sisters of Garukhan encounter is located in the Spires of Deshar map, appearing in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Interacting with this shrine grants the coveted +10% Lightning Resistance. Its understated icon on the world map often leads to players overlooking it entirely.
Remember, PoE 2 features randomly generated maps. There's no guaranteed path to the Sisters of Garukhan within the Spires of Deshar, but it's always present. Thorough exploration is key. Look for a shrine resembling the image above. Upon interaction, you'll receive the +10% Lightning Resistance buff. Be prepared for a fight, however; dormant metal automatons will spring to life and attack once the shrine is activated. This triggers the entire map's automaton defenses.
A helpful tip: If you reach the checkpoint near the exit before finding the Sisters of Garukhan, you can fast travel back to it using the checkpoint near the shrine, avoiding a potentially dangerous trek through the map.
How to Get +10% Lightning Resistance From Sisters of Garukhan
The +10% Lightning Resistance is granted instantly upon interacting with the Sisters of Garukhan statues. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; it's an immediate effect upon touching the shrine.
This encounter repeats in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine twice yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance. Don't miss this opportunity to significantly bolster your defenses!
Why is +10% Lightning Resistance Not Activating
Many players are puzzled when, despite activating the Sisters of Garukhan and receiving the confirmation message, their resistance values remain negative.
The reason lies in PoE 2's act completion penalties. After each act, you receive a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances (Chaos Resistance remains unaffected). Therefore, completing the Sisters of Garukhan in Act 2 nets you zero Lightning Resistance, as the buff cancels out the Act 1 debuff. In Act 2 Cruel, you'll start with -40%, increasing to -30% after activating the Sisters of Garukhan again.
To verify the buff's activation, remove all your gear and check your resistances in the endgame. A baseline of -40% to all resistances indicates that you've successfully completed both encounters.
