Should You Use Pebbles or Herring in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2?
Choosing Your Steed in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: Pebbles vs. Herring
In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, you face the delightful dilemma of choosing between two horses: Pebbles and Herring. Both become available later in the game, after the unfortunate loss of your initial mount. So, which horse reigns supreme?
Pebbles: The Familiar Friend
You'll encounter Pebbles at the Semine estate before the Semine/Agnes wedding. Acquiring her requires a purchase, but the investment is worthwhile. Pebbles is more than just a horse; she's Henry's loyal companion, a familiar face from before the game's events, offering a strong sentimental connection.
Herring: The Statistically Superior…Initially
Herring becomes available after completing "For Whom the Bell Tolls." Offered by Otto von Bergow, he boasts initially higher base stats than Pebbles. However, this advantage is deceptive.
The Perk Advantage: Distance Makes the Horse Stronger
Both horses receive stat boosts after being ridden a certain distance. This perk significantly alters their final capabilities. While Herring requires a longer ride (50 kilometers) to unlock his perk, Pebbles reaches her full potential after a shorter distance (35 kilometers).
The Verdict: Pebbles Takes the Crown
Despite Herring's initially superior stats, Pebbles emerges as the superior choice. Her boosted stats (217 stamina, 353 capacity, 53 speed, 12 courage) are excellent, especially considering she's obtainable earlier and her perk unlocks faster. The lower acquisition cost and sentimental value further solidify her position as the ideal steed. For a reliable, capable, and emotionally resonant companion on your extensive journeys, Pebbles is the clear winner.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
