The controller incorporates the same features as the DualSense, including haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen interface in place of the traditional touchpad. While the PS Portal enables game streaming even outside your home, it requires a very stable and fast internet connection. It's important to note that the PS Portal is not a standalone device; it strictly functions as a remote player for the PlayStation 5, necessitating a PS5 to operate.

Sony has recently updated the PS Portal's capabilities, allowing you to stream games directly from their PlayStation Now cloud streaming service without needing a PS5. This feature enables Portal owners to connect either to their PS5 or to Sony's cloud servers, thanks to new quality-of-life beta updates launched in April. "The PlayStation Portal is the most surprising device I've ever come away from loving after initially approaching it with skepticism. It offers a far superior experience compared to using a phone with an attached controller, and it performs much better than I had anticipated. I truly appreciate the freedom it provides to play my PS5 games from anywhere with decent WiFi coverage, especially when my family is using the TV to play the Switch. However, it's crucial to remember that the Portal is not a standalone device and requires a PlayStation 5 to function. The major drawbacks preventing the Portal from being a truly exceptional device are its current inability to access WiFi networks that require a web browser for login and its lack of Bluetooth support for audio. Despite these limitations, it remains the best current solution for PlayStation Remote Play. If it weren't for these two puzzling shortcomings, I would recommend this as a must-own device for every PS5 owner who enjoys handheld gaming or competes for household TV time."
