Path of Exile 2's Endgame Rituals: A Comprehensive Guide

Path of Exile 2 introduces Rituals, a compelling endgame event alongside Breaches, Expeditions, and Delirium. This guide details Ritual mechanics, rewards, and the challenging Pinnacle boss.

Identifying Ritual Encounters

On the Atlas, Ritual Altar map nodes are marked with a distinctive red pentagram icon. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, inserted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.

Once in a Ritual map, several Altars appear. Each map features a shared random modifier impacting enemy types or mechanics (e.g., massive rat swarms or life-draining blood pools).

Activating and Completing Rituals

Interact with an Altar after noting its modifiers. A large circular area will illuminate; remain within this zone to defeat all enemies. Leaving the zone prematurely ends the event without rewards. Completing all Altars on a map marks it as complete.

The King in the Mists: Pinnacle Boss Encounter

The 'An Audience With The King' currency item, obtained from Ritual Favours, unlocks the Crux of Nothingness and the King in the Mists boss fight. This boss shares mechanics with the Act 1 Cruel version found in Freythorn. Defeating him grants 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.

Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessible via the Atlas, enhances Rituals. It's located in the bottom right of the Atlas tree and offers nodes to reduce Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and increase unique currency drop chances. Increasing boss difficulty is mandatory for each new Notable node.

Notable Nodes and Prioritization

Prioritize 'From The Mists', 'Spreading Darkness', and 'Ominous Portents' for increased rewards. Then, focus on 'Tempting Offers' and 'He Approaches' for high-value Omens and boss encounter chances.

Ritual Rewards: Tribute and Favours

Completed Rituals grant Tribute, a currency to purchase randomized Favours. More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock higher-tier rewards, including Rare gear and high-tier currencies. 'An Audience With The King' is exclusively obtained through Favours.

Omen Currencies

Omens are powerful items enhancing other currencies. Examples include Omens of Annulment (specific modifier removal) and Alchemy (specific modifier addition). These are highly sought after for crafting.

In addition to Tribute and Favour rewards, regular high-tier currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.) drop from enemies. The King in the Mists has a chance to drop event-exclusive Unique items.
