The Pokémon Company revealed today that it will launch a dedicated Pokémon theme park in Tokyo next year. PokéPark KANTO marks the monster-catching franchise’s first permanent outdoor destination, situated within Yomiuriland, which stands as Tokyo’s largest amusement complex.

As demonstrated in the concept video posted on the official X account of The Pokémon Company (see below), PokéPark immerses guests by allowing them to assume the role of trainers, bringing the beloved game worlds to life.

Naturally, the entrance plaza will showcase the iconic Kanto starter Pokémon: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle (here’s how to get them in Pokemon Legends Z-A, if you are curious). The park is divided into two distinct zones: the Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town. The Pokémon Forest features a winding woodland trail with diverse terrains where guests can observe various statues of different Pokémon. Meanwhile, Sedge Town offers attractions such as the Vee Vee Voyage carousel, a retail store for merchandise, Trainer’s Mart serving exclusive park treats, and the Sedge Gym, which hosts live stage performances featuring dancing Pikachus. Visitors will also enjoy character meet-and-greets and watch a grand Pokémon parade. In total, the park boasts appearances from over 600 different Pokémon species.

PokéPark previously operated in Nagoya (Japan) in 2005 and later in Taiwan in 2006. However, those were temporary installations with limited lifespans. PokéPark KANTO revives this concept by establishing a permanent theme park location.

PokéPark KANTO officially opens on February 5, 2026. Ticket sales via lottery begin on November 21 of this year. The Ace Trainer’s Pass provides unrestricted entry to both the Pokémon Forest and Sedge Town areas, along with benefits such as priority access lines for rides, reserved seating at the Sedge Gym show, meet-and-greet opportunities, and exclusive merchandise. Alternatively, the standard Trainer’s Pass grants unlimited access to Sedge Town but requires a timed reservation for entering the Pokémon Forest. Plans are also underway to introduce a Sedge Town-only pass in the future. For additional details, visit the official website.

In related news, video game-themed parks have seen a surge in openings recently. Universal Studios Japan in Osaka features Super Nintendo World, which introduced a new Donkey Kong Country area last year. In the United States, Super Nintendo World locations exist at both Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal Epic Universe, with an even larger version slated for the Universal Orlando Resort. Additionally, dedicated Minecraft theme parks are scheduled to launch in the U.S. and the UK sometime between 2026 and 2027.
