IGDA, IGDAF, WIGI Launch Mobile Games Push: Port Quest
- Port Quest is a new collaborative effort by the IGDA, IGDAF, and WIGI.
- It provides a comprehensive support package for developers launching their games on mobile.
- Could this initiative mark the beginning of a mobile port renaissance?
It's clear that the technical divide between mobile devices and PC/console platforms diminishes with each passing year. The sophisticated shooters, RPGs, and strategy titles now available on mobile would have been unthinkable just half a decade ago. Yet there's room for growth, which is why a new program called Port Quest has been introduced to foster further development.
Port Quest, led by the IGDA (International Game Developers Association), WIGI (Women In Games Initiative), and IGDAF, focuses explicitly on expanding the library of mobile game ports. The program assists development teams throughout the porting process by providing guidance from seasoned industry experts, along with workshops, marketing support, and additional resources.
In addition, chosen participants will be highlighted in a special showcase event—an exciting prospect for anyone interested in discovering upcoming mobile ports.

Thinking with Ports
Applications remain open until September 15th, and Devcom conference attendees will have access to an exclusive panel. While players may not grasp the full significance, for anyone familiar with the hurdles of mobile game development, this represents a major step forward.
Historically, mobile gaming has often been dismissed as a secondary platform. Although its audience surpasses nearly every other gaming medium, it still faces undue criticism. Port Quest aims to change that, paving the way for a diverse range of new titles to arrive on mobile. The possibilities appear almost limitless.
