GoldenEye fans, the moment has arrived – IO Interactive has officially confirmed that its upcoming James Bond title is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2.

As detailed on IO Interactive’s website, Project 007 will introduce a completely original story set in the Bond universe.

“Players will step into the shoes of the world's most celebrated Secret Agent and earn their 00 status in the very first James Bond origin story,” the studio said, offering a preview of the game’s narrative.

In an interview with IGN back in October, IO Interactive Head Hakan Abrak discussed crafting a fresh origin story for the iconic spy. “What makes this project so thrilling is the chance to tell a completely new story. It's not simply adapting a film into a game,” he told IGN.

“It's a whole new beginning — the start of what we hope becomes a major trilogy down the line. Just as important, this is a new Bond, built from scratch for gamers. It’s incredibly exciting to blend that rich tradition and deep history into creating a young Bond for players — a Bond they can relate to, grow with, and truly make their own.”
