Ampere's Piers Harding-Rolls noted the substantial price difference between the standard PS5 and the Pro model (40-50%), far exceeding the gap between the PS4 and PS4 Pro at launch.

Ampere predicts approximately 1.3 million PS5 Pro units sold during November 2024, a shortfall of roughly 400,000 units compared to the PS4 Pro's initial sales in 2016. Harding-Rolls highlighted the price disparity, suggesting it might dampen demand. However, he believes that dedicated PlayStation fans will be less price-sensitive. The PS4 Pro ultimately sold around 14.5 million units, representing about 12% of total PS4 sales, with projected sales reaching approximately 13 million units over five years.
