Resident Evil Creator Wants Cult Classic, Killer7, to Get a Sequel By Suda51
Resident Evil's creator, Shinji Mikami, recently expressed strong support for a Killer7 sequel during a Grasshopper Direct presentation. This sparked discussion about the cult classic's future, potentially including both a sequel and a complete edition.
Mikami and Suda51 Discuss Killer7's Future
Killer11 or Killer7: Beyond?
The discussion, primarily focused on the upcoming *Shadows of the Damned* remaster, shifted to the possibility of a Killer7 sequel and a complete edition. Mikami declared his love for the game, stating his desire to see a sequel. Suda51, the visionary behind Killer7, echoed this sentiment, hinting at a potential sequel with playful title suggestions like "Killer11" or "Killer7: Beyond."
Killer7, a 2005 action-adventure game blending horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature over-the-top style, garnered a dedicated following despite lacking a sequel. Even after a 2018 PC remaster, Suda51 proposed a "Complete Edition" to fully realize his original vision, including restoring extensive dialogue for the character Coyote. Mikami playfully countered this suggestion, but the team acknowledged the potential of a Complete Edition.
The possibility of a sequel or complete edition ignited considerable fan excitement. While no firm commitments were made, the developers' enthusiasm suggests a future for Killer7 is a real possibility. The final decision, according to Suda51, will be whether to prioritize "Killer7: Beyond" or the Complete Edition.
