Respawn Axes Titanfall Multiplayer Game
A former employee of Respawn Entertainment recently disclosed on LinkedIn that the studio has halted development on a new game this week. Despite being in development for several years, no official reasons were provided for the project's sudden termination.
Last year, gaming journalist Jeff Grubb revealed that this was not a mainline entry in the Titanfall series, specifically not Titanfall 3. To work on this project, Respawn established an "experimental team" comprised of experts in multiplayer shooter development.
This cancellation follows the termination of another Respawn project, an arcade shooter known internally as Titanfall Legends, which was shut down last year.
The Titanfall series, renowned for its dynamic mix of action and mech piloting, allows players to engage in battles either as agile pilots or commanding powerful Titans. Since its debut in 2014, the franchise has built a dedicated following due to its unique blend of parkour and fast-paced team combat.
Currently, Respawn Entertainment is channeling its efforts into the development of the third installment of the Star Wars Jedi series, as well as a new strategy game set in the Star Wars universe, developed in partnership with Bit Reactor.
