Rumor: Rocksteady Studios is developing a new Batman game
According to acclaimed journalist Jason Schreier, the renowned studio Rocksteady is diving back into the world of the Dark Knight with a brand-new single-player Batman game. While details are still under wraps, Schreier hasn't specified whether this game will serve as a prequel, a continuation of the beloved Arkham saga, or an entirely new universe. However, whispers from insiders suggest that Rocksteady might be working on a thrilling take on Batman Beyond, setting players in a futuristic Gotham. The studio reportedly has grand plans to turn this into a full-blown trilogy, with the game expected to launch on the next generation of consoles.

The Arkham series, known for its stunning visuals, could reach new heights with a futuristic Gotham backdrop. This shift to Batman Beyond also addresses a poignant challenge: the iconic voice of Batman. Following the tragic passing of Kevin Conroy in 2022, Rocksteady may pivot to feature Terry McGinnis or Damian Wayne as the new Batman, similar to what Warner Bros. Montreal had envisioned for its canceled sequel to Batman: Arkham Knight.
Rocksteady's last venture into an online shooter didn't resonate with fans, leading to its disappointing performance. The studio quickly abandoned its post-launch plans, ending the story with a hastily produced animation that undid some of the game's most controversial plot developments, revealing that the fallen heroes were merely clones.
Now, with renewed focus, Rocksteady is returning to its roots, crafting what promises to be an exhilarating solo Batman adventure. However, insiders caution that fans will need to exercise patience, as the project is still several years away from release.
