Samsung 990 Evo Plus 2TB SSD Sale: Ideal for PS5 and Gaming PCs
Samsung's latest SSD, the Samsung 990 Evo Plus 2TB PCIe 4.0 M.2 NVMe solid state drive, is currently on sale for a fantastic price of $129.99. This deal is even better than the prices seen during Black Friday, and it's $40 less than the Samsung 990 Pro. Most gamers won't even notice the slight difference in performance between these two models, making the 990 Evo Plus a smart choice for both your gaming PC and PlayStation 5 console.
Samsung 990 Evo Plus 2TB PCIe Gen 4x4 M.2 SSD
Originally priced at $184.99, you can now save 30% and get it for $129.99 at Amazon. The Samsung 990 Evo Plus is an excellent choice for enhancing your gaming setup. It surpasses Sony's minimum speed recommendation for the PS5, delivering impressive sequential read speeds of up to 7,250MB/s and write speeds of up to 6,300MB/s. While it's not as fast as the 990 Pro, it's a significant step up from the non-Pro version of the 990 Evo.
The key difference between the 990 Evo Plus and the more expensive 990 Pro is that the Evo Plus is a DRAM-less drive. However, this doesn't impact PS5 performance at all. For gaming PCs, the 990 Evo Plus utilizes HMB (host memory buffer) technology, which compensates for the absence of DRAM by using a negligible amount of your system's RAM. This means gamers won't notice any performance difference between the two.
The Samsung 990 Evo Plus does not come with a preinstalled heatsink. However, its new single-sided design is power-efficient and produces less heat than older SSD models. This means you likely won't need a heatsink, and it should function perfectly in a PS5 console without thermal throttling. If you prefer added peace of mind, you can install a heatsink for an extra $7, but it's not necessary.
