Old School RuneScape heads back to Great Kourend as the new boss Yama emerges
In Old School RuneScape’s latest update, players are thrust back into the chaotic politics and infernal depths of Great Kourend, where an ancient evil has finally awakened. The new boss, *Yama, the Master of Pacts*, is now live—a blazing minotaur demon who has been amassing power in the Chasm of Fire, waiting for his moment to emerge.
If you’ve completed *A Kingdom Divided* and dealt with the Royal Titans, this update continues that storyline arc. Following the events of Yama’s Judge encounter in 2021, it was only a matter of time before the true threat revealed itself. Now fully realized, Yama arrives with wings, horns, hooves, and a devastating two-handed axe ready to test even the most seasoned adventurers. He is supported by the Disciples of Yama—fanatical fire cultists willing to sacrifice everything for their demonic master.
What You Need to Know About Battling Yama
This encounter is tailored for high-level players. To stand a chance against Yama, you’ll need to have the prerequisite quest completed, along with top-tier combat stats and Best in Slot gear. The fight can be tackled solo or with a group, making it accessible for both lone wolves and teams. Upon defeating him, players gain access to exclusive rewards such as:
- Demon Tallow – Used in crafting powerful Surge Potions.
- Grimoire Pages – Essential for unlocking advanced magical capabilities.
- Chasm of Fire Teleport Scroll – A convenient tool for quick travel to the heart of the action.
- Other surprise drops – Including potential hidden treasures yet to be discovered by the community.
New Features in the Chasm of Fire
Beyond the boss fight, the Chasm of Fire has seen major updates. It now includes dedicated mining and smithing zones, allowing players to harvest Crimson Lovakite, a rare material found exclusively in this region. Using this resource, you can forge the new Oathplate armour set, a formidable addition to any late-game inventory. Even if you're not interested in bossing, the Chasm offers valuable content for crafters and resource gatherers alike.
