Semine or Hashek: Best Outcome in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2's Necessary Evil Quest

May 26,25

In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the main story quest "Necessary Evil" presents players with one of the game's most challenging moral dilemmas. Whether to side with Semine or Hashek during this quest can significantly impact the storyline. Here's a comprehensive guide to help you navigate through the quest and make informed decisions.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Necessary Evil Quest Walkthrough

After completing the "Back in the Saddle" quest, you can start "Necessary Evil." In this quest, von Bergow tasks Hans and Henry with gathering intelligence from Nebakov Fortress and interrogating a prisoner. The interrogation's outcome is crucial, as it will decide whether von Bergow targets Semine or Nebakov Fortress. This walkthrough focuses on choosing Semine, where the most difficult decisions lie.

Prisoner Interrogation Answers

During the prisoner interrogation, you'll need to pass several Speech checks. You can either use intimidation or resort to torture to extract the necessary information. Here are the Speech check requirements:

  • “We’ll put in a good word for you.” (20 Impression)
  • “Istvan and I are old acquaintances.” (20 Impression)
  • “Otherwise, it’ll end badly for you.” (17 Intimidation)

After the interrogation, you'll uncover the bandit leader's identity and Semine's involvement. When reporting to von Bergow, you can inform him that Young Semine is collaborating with the bandits, leading to an attack on the town, or claim that no one helped the bandits, resulting in an attack on Nebakov.

Should You Attack Semine or Nebakov?

Choosing to attack Semine requires you to ride with the party and face more complex decisions involving Hashek. Opting for Nebakov means von Bergow will handle the bandits there, concluding the quest immediately. While attacking Nebakov avoids bloodshed at Semine, morally, it's questionable to let Semine escape consequences for actions that have caused numerous deaths. Personally, I chose to attack Semine as it felt like the right decision, despite my familiarity with the town from earlier in the game.

If you decide to attack Semine, ensure you ride with the party to prevent the town's slaughter. Your presence can help mitigate the situation.

Should You Side With Semine or Hashek?

Before the ride to Semine, you can talk to Hashek, who clearly seeks revenge and the most violent outcome. Upon arrival, you must decide between siding with Semine or Hashek. Choose “Hashek is right” to side with Hashek, or “Olda deserves a trial” to side with Semine.

I recommend siding with Semine. Although Semine's involvement with the bandits was wrong, Hashek's desire to raze the town would lead to more innocent deaths. As a morally upright Henry, it's fitting to prevent Hashek's destructive plans. After defeating Hashek, advise the Semines to burn their estate and flee, which advances the quest to your next objective.

Siding with Hashek results in the town's massacre. You can also locate Olda in the tower and decide his fate—whether to spare him or hand him over to Hashek.

Should You Tell von Bergow or Let Hans Talk?

The final step involves reporting back to von Bergow with Hans. You can either stay silent and let Hans handle the conversation or speak up about Semine's events. I suggest remaining silent and letting Hans talk, as he's more diplomatic, ensuring you both remain in von Bergow's favor. This leads to von Bergow planning his next move against Nebakov.
