Shin chan: Shiro & Coal Town Joins Crunchyroll's Android Game Vault
The beloved anime series Shin Chan has made its way onto Android devices with the launch of "Shin Chan: Shiro & the Coal Town" through the Crunchyroll Game Vault. Originally released in Japan for the Nintendo Switch in February 2024, it expanded globally on Switch and PC in October 2024, and now, fans can enjoy this slice-of-life adventure on their mobile devices.
Shin Chan: Shiro & Coal Town Is a Mysterious Anime Adventure
The game begins with the Nohara family moving to a tranquil village in Akita Prefecture after Hiroshi secures a job close to his hometown. They settle into a traditional Japanese farmhouse, embracing the serene rural life. As Shinnosuke, affectionately known as Shin Chan, he explores the countryside with his grandfather, Ginnosuke. Days are filled with fishing in Akita's rivers, bug-catching in the groves, and learning farming from his grandmother.
The plot thickens when Shiro, the family dog, returns home covered in soot and dashes off again. Shin Chan follows him and discovers a mysterious train that leads to Coal Town, a place seemingly stuck in the Showa era.
Coal Town feels like it’s been frozen since the Showa era
In Coal Town, Shin Chan encounters a lively community with a retro atmosphere, featuring bustling workers and various locales like a children's park, a diner, shops, restaurants, and an apartment block. Some areas offer interactive experiences, while others serve as charming backdrops.
Here, Shin Chan meets Yuri, a young inventor, who enlists his help in gathering materials for her experiments aimed at improving life for the town's residents. However, her older brother, Chuck, introduces a 'waste-free' system that disrupts the town. It's up to Shin Chan and Yuri to thwart Chuck's plans and restore harmony to Coal Town.
If you've grown up with Shin Chan and have a Crunchyroll Game Vault subscription, you can dive into this nostalgic adventure by downloading "Shin Chan: Shiro & Coal Town" from the Google Play Store.
