Silksong Release Confirmed: PR Manager Speaks
Hollow Knight: Silksong is Real and Coming, Confirms Team Cherry
Recent speculation surrounding a cryptic cake-related profile picture change by a Hollow Knight co-creator had Hollow Knight fans buzzing. While that turned out to be a harmless incident (apologies for the misleading cake!), Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew "Leth" Griffin, stepped in to provide a much-needed update.
Confirmation from Team Cherry
Griffin confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that Silksong is indeed real, actively in development, and will eventually release. This is the first official update in over a year and a half, offering reassurance to the eagerly awaiting fanbase.
A Long-Awaited Sequel
Initially revealed in February 2019 with a planned release in the first half of 2023, Silksong's development has been a long journey. A delay announced in May 2023 attributed the postponement to the game's expanded scope and the team's commitment to delivering a high-quality experience. The game promises a new kingdom, nearly 150 new enemies, and a challenging new difficulty mode, "Silk Soul" mode.
Mixed Reactions to the Update
While some fans expressed relief and gratitude for the confirmation, others voiced continued impatience after nearly six years of anticipation. The update, while welcome, was seen by some as minimal, fueling ongoing discussion and speculation.
What We Know So Far
Silksong will follow Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, on a perilous journey to the kingdom's peak. The game is slated for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. While a release date remains unannounced, stay tuned for future updates!
