Sony's PlayStation 5 Themes: Good & Bad News
Sony's popular PlayStation console themes for PS5 are disappearing! The limited-time PSOne, PS2, PS3, and PS4 themes will be unavailable as of January 31, 2025. However, Sony has confirmed their return in the coming months, offering a glimmer of hope to nostalgic PS5 users.
In a recent tweet, Sony expressed gratitude for the overwhelmingly positive reception to the themes, stating they are working to bring them back.

Despite this good news, Sony also announced that no further themes are planned for the PS5. This decision has drawn considerable disappointment from fans who have long awaited theme customization options on the console.
These temporary themes, released to celebrate PlayStation's 30th anniversary on December 3, 2024, allowed users to customize their PS5 home screen and menus with iconic imagery and sounds from past generations. The PSOne theme featured the classic console's design, the PS2 its menu structure, the PS3 its wave background, and the PS4 its signature wave patterns. Each theme also incorporated the respective console's boot-up sounds. The lack of future themes is a setback for PS5 users hoping for similar nostalgic experiences.
