Squad Busters 2.0 Is Landing on Android Just Before Turning One!

Mar 13,26

Squad Busters is celebrating its first anniversary, and Supercell is launching its biggest update yet—version 2.0—on May 13th. Since its 2024 debut, the game hasn’t reached the player base the developers hoped for. Now, with 2.0, will things finally turn around?

This Isn’t Just a Minor Update

Squad Busters 2.0 is essentially a reboot—just as the name implies. Everything from battle mechanics to victory conditions has been completely overhauled.

The biggest shift is in the heroes. You’ll now select one Hero to lead your team. These Heroes are based on existing characters, and if your Hero is defeated, you lose the match.

Combat has also been reworked. You no longer need to stop moving to attack. Movement and fighting are now seamlessly linked, making every match faster, more aggressive, and wildly chaotic.

Victory rules have changed too. Instead of eliminating every opponent, you only need to take down the enemy Hero. Some players are skeptical, seeing it as a Brawl Stars spin-off with more layers.

Squad Busters 2.0 Is Removing Many Old Features

Modes like Doppelgangers, Double Trouble, Epic Overload, Loot Machines, and Hatchling Herder are being removed. Old skins and progression systems are also being phased out, with Supercell offering Hero Points and other rewards as compensation.

It’s clear why Supercell is moving so quickly. Squad Busters hasn’t come close to matching the popularity of Clash of Clans or Brawl Stars.

With this major update and the first anniversary approaching on May 29th, Supercell is betting big on rekindling player interest. A new series of daily piñata events is launching soon to celebrate, featuring opportunities to unlock the new Hero, Mortis.
