Squid Game 2: New Characters and Events Surge Amidst Season 2 Excitement
Squid Game: Unleashed is getting a major content update to coincide with the release of season two of the hit Netflix show. This update, launching January 3rd, includes new characters, a new map, and exciting challenges. Best of all, players can earn exclusive rewards simply by watching episodes of the new season!
Netflix's decision to make Squid Game: Unleashed free-to-play for everyone, even non-subscribers, was a bold move. This new content drop, with its enticing rewards for Netflix subscribers, cleverly incentivizes both engagement with the game and the show itself.
What's in store for players? The update introduces a new map inspired by the Mingle mini-game from Squid Game season two. Three new playable characters – Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and Thanos (the rapper) – will also debut throughout January.
Geum-Ja and Thanos will each have special in-game events running from January 3rd to 9th and January 9th to 14th respectively, allowing players to unlock them. Watching episodes of Squid Game season two will reward players with in-game Cash and Wild Tokens. Watching up to seven episodes unlocks the exclusive Binni Binge-Watcher outfit!
Here's a breakdown of the January content:
- January 3rd: New Mingle map launches. Geum-Ja's Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event begins (until January 9th), challenging players to complete Mingle mini-games and collect Dalgona tins.
- January 9th: Thanos arrives with his own recruitment event, Thanos’ Red Light Challenge (until January 14th). Players must eliminate opponents using knives to unlock him.
- January 16th: Yong-Sik joins the roster as the final new character in this update.
Squid Game: Unleashed's free-to-play model and the added incentive of rewarding Netflix subscribers are proving to be a smart strategy. This approach not only boosts the game's popularity but also effectively promotes the show itself, highlighting a potential new model for Netflix's gaming ambitions.
