Squid Game: Unleashed, the upcoming battle royale game based on the hit Korean drama, is officially free-to-play for everyone – Netflix subscribers and non-subscribers alike! This surprising announcement, made at the Big Geoff's Game Awards, is a smart move by Netflix, potentially boosting the game's popularity ahead of its December 17th launch.

The game, a more intense take on titles like Fall Guys or Stumble Guys, features minigames inspired by the deadly challenges from the show. Players compete to be the last one standing, vying for a massive cash prize. Importantly, Squid Game: Unleashed remains ad-free and free of in-app purchases.

This strategic move by Netflix cleverly leverages its popular show to promote its gaming arm, Netflix Games, a service often overlooked despite its quality. The timing, with Squid Game season two on the horizon, is particularly shrewd. The announcement itself might even quell some criticism leveled at the Big Geoff's Game Awards for focusing too heavily on broader media rather than strictly gaming.
