Starfield Mod Adds Star Wars Lightsabers To The Game

Starfield, Bethesda's sprawling space RPG, has received a thrilling addition: lightsabers, courtesy of a new Creation mod. The recently released Starfield Creation Kit empowers players to leverage the creativity of the community, introducing exciting features, cosmetic enhancements, and unique gameplay additions.

Given Starfield's expansive sci-fi setting, the influx of Star Wars elements via mods is unsurprising. A wave of high-quality Star Wars mods has already enriched the Starfield experience, further amplified by the introduction of the Creation Club. These mods range from simple cosmetic additions like Mandalorian armor and Clone Wars attire to more substantial inclusions, such as alien species, AT-ST enemies, and iconic blasters. One mod even introduces Boba Fett, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the potential of the cancelled Star Wars 1313.

Now, the Immersive Sabers mod from SomberKing takes Star Wars fandom in Starfield to the next level. This free Creation Club mod introduces three melee lightsabers – the Combatech Polaris, Old Earth Photonsaber, and the Arboron Novabeam Saber – complete with authentic sound effects, workbench upgrades, and customizable beam colors. A new perk enhances lightsaber deflection capabilities.

This Immersive Sabers mod doesn't limit lightsaber use to the player. Defeated enemies can also drop these coveted weapons. While canonically crafted by individual Jedi, the mod cleverly integrates them into Starfield's world by assigning their manufacture to in-game weapon producers. SomberKing's Creation Club page teases three more lightsabers in the works, attributed to Laredo Firearms, Allied Armaments, and Kore Kinetics.

The recent surge in positive player sentiment towards Starfield is fueled by the introduction of Creation mod support, along with game updates introducing city maps and customizable ship interiors. However, Bethesda's implementation of paid mods remains a point of contention, particularly the paywalled conclusion to the Trackers Alliance questline. Despite this, upcoming content like the Shattered Space expansion and a deeper exploration of House Va'ruun promise a vibrant future for Starfield in 2024.
