Stellar Blade PC Port Speculation Sparks Interest

Dec 11,24

Shift Up, the developer behind the acclaimed action-adventure title Stellar Blade, has hinted at a potential PC port. Initially released as a PS5 exclusive due to its partnership with Sony, the game's impressive sales and overwhelmingly positive critical reception (an 82 average on OpenCritic from 124 reviews) have fueled speculation.

Stellar Blade's strong launch month, achieving top-selling status in the US, surpassing titles like Helldivers 2 and Dragon's Dogma 2, further solidified its success. Recent comments from Shift Up's CEO, Kim Hyung-Tae, and CFO, Jae-woo Ahn, during an IPO press conference (as reported by GameMeca via VGC), indicate that a PC port is under consideration. While a firm timeline remains unconfirmed due to contractual obligations with Sony, Ahn noted the shifting landscape of AAA game consumption towards PC, suggesting a port could significantly boost the IP's value.

The possibility of a PC release aligns with Sony's growing trend of bringing its exclusives to PC, as evidenced by the upcoming PC release of God of War: Ragnarok. Shift Up's previous financial report also mentioned exploring both a sequel and a PC port for Stellar Blade. Therefore, a PC version appears increasingly likely.

Despite the positive outlook, the recent PS5 update introduced some graphical glitches. However, Shift Up has acknowledged these issues and is actively working on a resolution. While players eagerly await a PC port, the developer remains committed to optimizing the PS5 experience.
