It appears that the title for the sequel to *The Super Mario Bros. Movie* may have been prematurely revealed through an NBCUniversal press release. The document, which was meant to highlight the upcoming Upfront Showcase, inadvertently included "Super Mario World" among the list of future Universal Pictures and Illumination films set to stream on Peacock. However, the mention of Super Mario World was quickly scrubbed from the release.

The now-altered press release initially grouped "Super Mario World" with "Shrek" and "Minions," which are believed to refer to *Shrek 5* and *Minions 3*, respectively. This suggests that "Super Mario World" might not be the final title for the Mario sequel but rather a placeholder or umbrella term, similar to how the other films are not simply titled "Shrek" or "Minions."

Despite the possibility of "Super Mario World" being a tentative title, its specificity compared to a generic "Super Mario" or "Super Mario Bros." lends credibility to the speculation. The title "Super Mario World" would be fitting for the next installment in the Mario cinematic universe.
