Hello discerning readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024. Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting announcements, wasn't it? Many games were shadow-dropped, making for a surprisingly busy Wednesday. We've got news, a review of today's eShop additions, and the usual sales updates. Let's dive in!

Partner/Indie World Showcase: A Bounty of Games
Nintendo's decision to combine two smaller showcases proved effective, resulting in a flurry of announcements. Highlights include several shadow-dropped titles (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remasters, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory entries, and much more. I recommend watching the video for a complete overview. A wealth of titles caters to diverse gaming preferences.
Select New Releases
Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)
A third Castlevania compilation joins the fray, a welcome shadow drop. This collection features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. It also includes the infamous arcade game, Haunted Castle, alongside an M2-developed remake that significantly improves upon the original. The emulation is superb, offering a comprehensive and exceptional experience. An incredible value for the price.
Pizza Tower ($19.99)
This Wario Land-inspired platformer, another shadow drop, delivers frenetic gameplay. Conquer the five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to save your restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will appreciate this title, but even those without a strong Wario connection who enjoy platformers should consider it. A review is pending.
Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)
The shadow drops continue! Goat Simulator 3 brings its signature chaotic gameplay to the Switch. While performance on the Switch remains to be seen (given challenges on more powerful systems), its inherent absurdity might even complement any potential performance issues. Expect silly goats, silly antics, and an open world—your Switch may or may not survive the experience.
Peglin ($19.99)
While it's tempting to criticize EA's decision to omit PopCap games from the Switch, Peglin offers a compelling alternative for Peggle enthusiasts. This mobile hit now graces the Switch, blending Peggle mechanics with turn-based RPG roguelite elements. A review is forthcoming.
Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)
Kairosoft's familiar shop simulation formula receives a Doraemon makeover. Featuring characters from the beloved manga and anime, this title offers a charming take on the established formula, even including cameos from the creator's other works.
Pico Park 2 ($8.99)
Pico Park fans get a sequel! Supporting up to eight players locally or online, this cooperative puzzle game thrives on numbers. Solve challenging puzzles requiring teamwork and strategic thinking. While enjoyable, it lacks enough innovation to attract newcomers.
Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)
An affordable rhythm game showcasing Kamitsubaki Studio's music. Simple yet enjoyable, offering a solid value for its price point.
SokoPenguin ($4.99)
A straightforward Sokoban-style puzzle game featuring a penguin protagonist. One hundred levels await.
Q2 Humanity ($6.80)
Over three hundred quirky physics-based puzzles challenge players. Utilize character abilities and drawing mechanics to solve problems. Supports up to four players locally or online.
Sales
(North American eShop, US Prices)
