Sydney Sweeney to Lead in 'Split Fiction' Film Adaptation
Sydney Sweeney, known for her role in Madame Web, is set to star in the upcoming film adaptation of the popular video game Split Fiction. According to Variety, the project is gaining momentum with acclaimed director Jon M. Chu, known for Wicked, at the helm. The screenplay is being penned by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the duo behind Deadpool & Wolverine. Story Kitchen, the production company behind the successful Sonic films, is now shopping this promising talent package to Hollywood studios, anticipating a competitive bidding war.
The casting of Sweeney raises the intriguing question of which sister she will portray: Zoe or Mio. Variety reports that this decision has yet to be finalized.

Split Fiction, developed by Hazelight and led by designer Josef Fares, only launched in March but quickly became a hit, selling over 2 million copies within its first week. The game is also slated as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2. IGN's review praised Split Fiction with a score of 9/10, describing it as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another, Split Fiction is a rollercoaster of constantly refreshed gameplay ideas and styles – and one that’s very hard to walk away from."
Hazelight's success extends beyond Split Fiction. Their other blockbuster, It Takes Two, which sold 23 million copies, is also being adapted into a film, with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson potentially starring.
While there's always a risk that these adaptations may not come to fruition, the current wave of successful video game movies suggests a strong interest from Hollywood. Last year, Story Kitchen announced several other projects, including film adaptations of Just Cause directed by Ángel Manuel Soto, Dredge: The Movie, Kingmakers, Sleeping Dogs, and even a live-action Toys 'R' Us movie.
Meanwhile, Hazelight is already teasing its next game, keeping fans eagerly anticipating what's next from the innovative studio.
