Threads of Time, Riyo Games' eagerly anticipated 2.5D RPG, draws inspiration from iconic games like Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy. Unveiled at the Xbox showcase during Tokyo Game Show 2024, the game is set to launch on Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam. While an official release date remains under wraps, there's no word yet on potential releases for PS5 or Nintendo Switch.

This new title from Riyo Games is poised to stand alongside 2023's acclaimed RPG, Sea of Stars, as a spiritual successor to Square Enix's beloved Chrono series. Threads of Time is Riyo Games' debut in the turn-based retro-style RPG genre, infusing nostalgia with modern flair.

"Riyo Games’ vision is to craft retro-infused RPGs that awaken treasured childhood memories," the studio stated in their press release. "It all started with a promise between two kids, huddled next to their CRT TV playing RPGs after school, to one day create fantastical, story-rich adventures together."

Threads of Time immerses players in a vibrant 2.5D pixel art world, where they control a diverse cast of characters journeying through different time periods. The narrative spans centuries, from the age of dinosaurs to futuristic realms with mechanical robots, as players unravel a sinister plot that threatens the very fabric of time. The game's story is further enhanced by cutting-edge anime cutscenes that delve into its intricate plot.

The game introduces a captivating roster of characters, including Rye, a mysterious young swordsman from 1000 AD; Bo, a skillful veterinarian from 12,000,000 BC; and Rin, a blade-wielding kitsune from 2400 AD, among others.
