How to Obtain Tier II/Fine Gear in Avowed
In *Avowed*, keeping your weapons and armor upgraded is crucial for tackling the game's challenges. At the start, you'll mostly encounter Common, or Level I, weapons and enemies. As you progress, the difficulty scales up to Level II, necessitating Fine gear to keep up. Here’s a detailed guide on how to acquire Tier II/Fine weapons and armor in *Avowed*.
How to Upgrade Weapons and Armor from Common (I) to Fine (II) in Avowed
While some gear may spawn or be available for purchase as Fine Quality, other pieces will require upgrading. In *Avowed*, gear effectiveness is measured by two factors: Quality and level. Quality is indicated by a descriptor, color, and Roman Numeral. Common items, marked in green, are at Level I, whereas Fine items, marked in blue, are at Level II. Between these levels, there are three additional sub-levels, ranging from +1 to +3.
To upgrade your gear from Common (I) to Fine (II), you'll need to visit a Party Camp, where a workbench is available for upgrades. You must progress through each sub-level from +1 to +3 before reaching Fine (II). Each sub-level requires specific materials, which vary by the type of gear. Once you reach the +3 level, you can upgrade to Fine (II), but this will require Adra, a rare crystal obtained from completing Quests, purchasing from Merchants, or dismantling Unique weapons and armor.
Where to Find and Purchase Fine (II) Weapons and Armor in Avowed
Upgrading gear is resource-intensive, so finding Fine (II) weapons and armor directly in the Living Lands is another viable option. You might occasionally find them in Dawnshore early in your playthrough, particularly from Level II enemies, such as Bounties. However, using Common gear against Level II enemies is less effective, so stock up on health potions for these encounters.
Fine weapons and armor can also be purchased from Merchants in Paradis. Access to Paradis is unlocked shortly after defeating the Dreamscourge-infested bear boss in Dawnshore during the early stages of the Main Quest. In Paradis, a pair of sister Merchants near the Bounty Board offer Fine gear. Merlylin specializes in magical items like grimoires and wands, while her blacksmith sister sells traditional weapons and armor (as shown in the image above).
With these strategies, you'll be well-equipped with Fine weapons and armor in *Avowed*, ready to face the escalating challenges of the game.
