The thrill of a new Final Destination film, Final Destination: Bloodlines, now in theaters, marks the sixth chapter of the beloved franchise. It wouldn’t be complete without the iconic Tony Todd, renowned for his chilling role as Candyman. In a heartfelt moment, the late actor delivered a powerful, unscripted monologue, which producer Craig Perry described as “deeply bittersweet.”

“We were all aware of his serious illness,” Perry shared in a recent Deadline interview, reflecting on the franchise that began in 2000. “Knowing this would likely be his final role, especially in a Final Destination film, made it profoundly moving.”

Perry noted that directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam Stein took a bold approach, allowing Todd to speak freely during his scene, diverging from the scripted lines.

“The directors made a wise choice to set aside the final scripted lines and told Tony, ‘Just share what you’d want to tell the fans. What message do you want to leave them?’” Perry recounted. “The raw emotion in that scene comes from Tony speaking directly to the fans who’ve supported him for years. It was a truly magical moment on set, one that will stay with me forever.”
